About Intel
Founded in 1968 by Robert Noyce and Gordon Moore, Intel created the world’s first commercial microprocessor, the 4004, in 1971 and went on to power the personal computer era with its x86 chips. Headquartered in Santa Clara, California, the company reported revenue of $52.9 billion in 2025 and is now in the middle of a major turnaround under CEO Lip-Bu Tan, restructuring its workforce and building its foundry business to manufacture chips for other companies. In India, Intel runs its largest design and engineering center outside the US, with facilities in Bengaluru and Hyderabad working on chip design, AI, graphics and data center products.
